Internal damage to LCD screen
By: Anonymous January 6, 2008
Review:
I brought the HP 17" Laptop and I have been happy using it but suddenly one day I find the internal screen developed a crack running diagonally and in few days the crack pattern also changed! it started with small internal crack line and now its widened!! I was using the Laptop 1 day before and next day I find this crack and I am very much sure there hasnt been any external force! I am myself puzzled with LCD endurance and how this can happen! Lesson learnt which I would like to share with you all is its always better to buy Laptop with smaller screen size like 14.1 inch or at max 15.4 inches

I just upgraded my laptop from a 2002 800Mhz 256MB Compaq Evo600C to a 17" HP dv9623cl from Costco. I did this because when I demo my web services, if the internet isn't available I have to run IIS, SQL Server on the laptop itself. Needless to say that the old one was just a little slow these days. After setting up the 1.8 Ghz, 2GB dv9000, I discovered that it was only marginally faster. I guess, as I have always known, that disk drive speed is REALLY important and we are still using 5400 rpm disks just like we did in 2002. As a reliability engineer from the computer industry, I can say that reliability halves with each 50 deg C rise in temperature. I always SpeedFan on my systems and keep an eye on the temperature. This is a really hot laptop. It runs 50C when doing little and up to 70C when working hard. I checked with HP and they weren't concerned. They say "it is set to shutdown at 80C." I suspect that most modern laptops run hotter then I would like, they are now really very powerful systems stuffed into a small space. Anyway it works good, runs great so I am keeping it.

Overall, I would recommend this laptop to people who want a small and portable laptop. It is very fun and stylish. The thing I really like about this laptop is that it has a lot of functions. It also comes with a remote control that allows you to change music when you are a distance away from the computer. This laptop makes a really nice laptop for college users or people who travel a lot.One of the things that really bug me is the grainy screen. It's not as clear as a true life screen because of the extra coating for the touchscreen option. Sometimes it makes it hard for me to read the screen in areas that aren't perfectly lit.Overall, I think those who buy it will probably love it after using it for a few days.

I bought this laptop in US 7 months back, got a deal. Initially i was a bit sceptical about the AMD procesor wich turned out to be very good. I haven’t faced a problem with performance till date. The best thing about the AMD processor is it has a NVIDIA graphics chipset added to it unlike intel processors which is pretty good when it comes to gaming and stuff !! Laptop has a inbuilt cam, mic and its ready for any personal use that we can think of......... multimedia stuffed, all n all its a small entertainment power house.with genuine softwares i haven’t had too many problems with the machine. Coming to the darker part - Windows Vista - Operating system , which i had to take as i did not have choice just sucks to the core. Hell lots of problems with constant reboot of explorer and non-compatibility of many software. Processor AMD, NVIDIA graphics chipset Processor Speed 1.6 ghz RAM 1 GB Memory 160 GB Inbuilt - webcam, mic and speakers Touch panel multimedia controls Screen size 14’1 inches
HP Pavilion dv6000z

Review:
- AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 processor running at 1.6 GHz.
- 120 GB hard drive running at 5400RPM
- 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 512MB sticks)
- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics chipset, up to 288MB
- 15.4" WXGA Hi-Def Brightview Widescreen display.
- 802.11 b/g WLAN
- 8x DVD+ and DVD- R/RW with dual layer support
- 5 in 1 card reader
- ExpressCard54 expansion slot
- Expansion Port 3 for docking stations
- 6 Cell Lithium-Ion battery.
- Windows Vista Home Premium
- HP Mobile Remote Control (plugs into Expresscard slot)
- Headphones
I purchased this system because I travel a lot, and require a computer to keep in contact with home, as well as entertainment uses such as gaming. It also is a lot easier to carry a laptop to a LAN party than it is a full tower PC with monitor. Before purchasing this system I had looked at the HP dv2000 series, the Dell E1505, the Acer 2112, and the Alienware M5550.
I eventually chose the HP due to the price of the system (similar systems configured from the Dell, HP, and Alienware websites were substantially more expensive, even before figuring in shipping) and the fact that Acer needs a lot of help in their customer support areas. Even their website does not give a good impression, it has broken links and slow loading pages.
Conclusion
This system will serve the needs of most average computer users. Gamers may have issues with the limited graphics card, and the touchpad buttons definitely take some time to get used to. However, the system has plenty of power for the average user and for the occasional game, and also is a great aesthetically looking system.
Pros:
- Great looking system.
- Plenty of power and RAM for the average user.
- Great speakers.
- Comes with remote control and media buttons.
Cons:
- Touchpad buttons have a huge travel distance.
- No PCMCIA slot or DVI out
- No recovery software without burning your own.
- Very susceptible to fingerprints.
- Limited video card.
Thats it
powerful dual core laptop for a reasonable price

The first thing that strikes you when you take this laptop out of the box is its design. The glossy black top with the radiance imprint is one of the main reasons I purchased this laptop. Unfortunately, my experience with the laptop was not enjoyable until I uninstalled most of the preinstalled software that HP included with it. The computer took at least ten minutes to start up when I first turned it on. This is crazy considering it has a 2.0 Ghz dual core processor. After I rid my computer of most of the software it worked like a charm. The screen resolution is great (1680x1050) and gives me ample space when working in Photoshop. Surprisingly, It loads the new Adobe CS3 suite very quickly and is not slowed down when watching an HD television channel at the same time. The built in speakers sound better than any other laptop speakers I have ever heard. You can actually listen to music without much distortion of other laptops I have encountered. They also get very loud which is great when watching a movie with a bunch of other people. I would recommend buying a set of speakers with a subwoofer for movies and good rock music because very little bass is produced with these speakers. The two headphone jacks in the front are very helpful when watching a movie on the plane. Overall, this is great laptop, but I just wish that HP would leave out the extra software.

The Pavilion dv9500t is a smooth running notebook (In my opionion at least) It is a great laptop for home users. It can also be used on vacations, workplaces, etc. It's price isn't very high compared to other high effecient models. It runs on an 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 Processor which features unique high speed action. It has a capability of running multiple programs with up to 2GB of DDR2 Ram running at 667MHz. This is good for the Windows Home Vista Premium that comes with this notebook. The Ram is enough to support Vista and other programs with few or none problems. With a 17 Inch screen, this laptop has a lot of capabilities. A very nice one to have.
HP Pavilion dv2500t

Review:
With its wavy-pinstripe imprint and glossy-black accents, the dv2500t carries forward the designer HP Pavilion look. Polished to an almost pearlescent sheen, the touchpad looks more like a minor work of art than a pointing device. Improvements include a move up to the Intel Santa Rosa processor family and some tweaks to the ports to introduce more high-definition capabilities. But the screen is still more reflective than most, and there's almost no point in choosing the standard six-cell battery, since its life is so short. Underneath the glam, the dv2500t is well equipped, albeit with one fewer USB port (a total of two) than its predecessor, the dv2000t, supplied. HP has replaced the third USB port with an HDMI connection for watching high-definition output on a similarly equipped TV. Battery life was disappointing, with the standard six-cell lasting just 2.5 hours, almost an hour shorter than average. A Pavilion dv2000t we reviewed last year ran more than 7 hours with an optional 12-cell battery. Though our testing methods have changed since then, it's a fairly safe bet that the battery upgrade is still well worth the extra $49, providing the added benefit of raising the wedge-shaped keyboard to an even more comfortable typing angle. All in all, Pavilion fans and converts alike should be happy with the dv2500t, as long as they opt for the better battery.
Tested this model before.

The HP Pavilion tx1110us is a non-touchscreen version of the popular HP tx1000z notebook recently released. The screen still rotates like the tablet version of this device, but you cannot use the Tablet PC features that the touchscreen versions of this device offers. While having a rotating screen is still useful for presentations or watching a movie, you'll probably find yourself wanting more. Very nice laptop for home and office use

Review:
A beautifully crafted consumer notebook, the new HP Pavilion dv6500t has backlit media controls and a stylish case that's made for showing off. Capable of serious work as well, it's a strong performer, yet fairly light (6.2 pounds) and easily totable. The keyboard is a tad bouncier than that of its predecessor, the dv6000t. And though bright and readable, the 15.4-inch screen tends to reflect overhead lights. Also, HP downgraded the dv6000t's 1.3-megapixel (1280-by-1024-pixel) Webcam to 0.3 megapixels (640 by 480 resolution) on the dv6500t.
