I purchased this laptop at a store at the last minute. One thing that was important to me is the surface at which your hands rest to type. I had this one laptop that got so hot it would turn my hands and wrist red to use it. I tested every laptop in the place that had been running all night, like hp, gateway and sony. Others, even some in the $1800 and up price were VERY hot running the dual core processors. I can also set it right on my lap in the car traveling and it doesn't get hot or weigh to much. The keys have a nice typing touch, screen is excellent although I don't like the glare from a shiny plastic face on the monitor that disturbed others during a meeting.

My little cell phone has wi-fi and that was another thing this had with a radar sensor that will look for a signal. I had this beauty at a convetion for taking notes and people were watching this thing like a submarine depth sounder. The battery lasted about 3 hours with constant typing and everything geared down.

Vista has some cool features to it like drop shadow around the windows but it sure takes some getting used to. It plays great dvd's that we used for a tv when traveling. I notice the fan as one person was talking about but it's was very small occasional noise that is hardly noticable at all even when I was falling asleep with one hand eye on this beauty and one eye closed.

I compared this next to the Sony viao, and couldn't get my self to spend $2,000 for the smallest lightest unit. Some of the Sony units had a much hotter face plate. This is a great laptop, much better than the one that finally froze up on me and pushed me to purchase it.

I highly recommend the product, not just for the price but for a quality well thougt out machine.

SATELLITE R-10 REVIEW

Review:

This review is about Toshiba Satellite R-10 Notebook Plus Tablet computer. This is a desktop and tablet replacement model from Toshiba. The Satellite R-10 is manufactured in Japan. The built quality is solid and everything places smoothly on the Satellite R-10. The main benefit of this laptop is the options available using a laptop and same time a Tablet pc. The R-10 is available in Silver color with contrast of black color bottom side. The weight of this laptop is around 6 pounds.

This notebook is equipped with the Intel’s Latest Centrino Technology. The Processor speed of this machine is 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium M with 2 megabyte L2 Cache support.
256 Mb of ram included with the machine but it can be upgraded to 2 GB of ram. The ram is enough for most of the applications for an office or normal users but more ram needed to get the optimal speed of this notebook( Toshiba should Include 512 Mb of ram ). Well again this notebook is not designed for power users. So if you need optimum for resource eating software you should first try out the notebook before buying it.
*240 MB of ram is available for user application and windows, as 16 Mb of ram is utilized with the VGA adaptor.

The screen size is 14.1” that is a good screen for a laptop with tablet support notebook. This screen size also increase the weight and size of the notebook so its little heavy for carrying to different places.

A 40Gb HDD & DVD-CDRW is with the standard machine.

This machine supports lots of ports like it has 3 USB ports, 1 IEEE port, 1 Serial port too bad this machine doest have IR port which is now a more common port with the availability of different handsets & PDA available in the market with IR support. One PCMCIA TYPE II slot is available for use of any PCMCIA Cards.
One the other hand this machine does have an SD card reader which supports normal MMC / SD cards available in the market.

Impressive - This laptop rocks

Review:

When I had first seen the laptop I was just surprised by the look. It was great. Then I thought of some laptops which were really great in the looks but junk in work. So I was in doubt. But I had found it to be one of the best laptops I have used.

Price : The price of the laptop is quite reasonable. But it is yet quite high for poor countries. Somewhere I had seen it 299$

Look : The look is great. You can catch peoples attention using the laptop. Catchy style.

Weight : The laptop is really light weight. At least for me. I felt holding it with two fingers.

Operation : WOW. Three letter to describe. I was doing my auctions with that. Wonderful performance. I used that for harder works such as designing and still wow. Recommended.

Gameplay : Before using this laptop I had no idea about laptops agp card power. I had seen a man playing Most Wanted in it and was really surprised how smoothly it was playing it. 8/10 for Gameplay.

Carrying : The laptop is great for carrying everywhere for office works. It has a great battery backup. I found it quite useful without direct power. 10/10 for Carrying.

IN TOTAL : RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE, BEGINNER TO PROFESSIONAL

Fantastic!

It does everything it says it will. I work as a service tech at a computer repair depot and I landed on Toshiba because I hardly ever saw them in for hardware repairs compared for market share. I'm a bit of a klutz so I needed something durable, and I've seen these things take some abuse.

Another laptop with an exceptional battery life, but that is not all to look for in a laptop. Although being priced a little steep, this machine is well-designed with its light-weight compact and truely fast performance. Not only that, this laptop is perfect for the average business man including tramendous wireless activity. In my opinion, this laptop is a great buy!

This is a great laptop if you do the following. 1 - buy more ram (this laptop comes with 1 stick of 512 leaving room for a single stick of 512 or more) 2 - tweak vista for better performance ie. use ccleaner and advanced windows care both are free. 3- remove junk software and make sure to put a stop to startup items via "msconfig"

Pretty nice hardware for the cash and it seems to have pleanty of power to run BF2. I tried the Crysis demo and it worked but thats about it. It handles Photoshop CS3 with ease and the big 17 inch monitor is really nice.

Windows Vista. I don't know if it was Vista or the hardware but the thing just started locking up, I would type something and it would only input every other letter. I've since restored the system and it seems to be running fine.

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2071 in June 2006. From my experience while owning it, I can say that it is a powerful and well featured notebook for the price that I paid for it. The most impressive features would be that it came with 512MB of Ram but I would suggest that it should be upgraded to atleast 1GB if you are a power-user and a Super-Multi drive which writes to EVERY disc media format.

I bought this laptop for my girlfriend, she seems to be happy with it, it's not a notebook for gamers or geeks.
It's a notebook for normal people, that don't expect too much from their laptop, just to navigate on the internet, read some new, watch a movie etc...

I like it!
